First Woman to win a Gold Medal for Britain in the Winter Paralympics (2014)

Gallagher, a visually impaired Alpine ski racer, was the first woman to win a British Paralympic Gold Medal in the Winter Olympics, Sochi 2014. This medal was the first British gold medal won in the winter games’ 38 year history. Racing at speeds of up to 75mph, Gallagher races with a guide, communicating by headset. Not her only first, Gallagher was also the first athlete from Northern Ireland to compete in the Winter Paralympics.
