First Woman to become a Yeoman Warder at the Tower of London

Moira Cameron made history in 2007 when she became the first woman to ever become a Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) in Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London. One of 35 ‘Beefeaters’, she broke a run of all-male Yeoman Warders that has held this position since 1485. Today all Yeoman Warders must complete a minimum of 22 years service in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, have reached the rank of Warrant Officer and have been awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
