First Woman to row across the Indian Ocean

In 2009 Sarah Outen was the first woman and youngest person (24) to row solo across the Indian Ocean in 2009. Rowing for 124 days from Australia to Mauritius, at the time only the fourth person ever to do so. She then went on to complete an around the world journey under her own power by rowing boat, bicycle and kayak in 2015. It took her four and a half years, travelling over 20,000 miles. In 2013, during this project, Outen also became the first woman to row solo from Japan to Alaska and to complete a mid-Pacific row from West to East.
