Television journalist, news reader and presenter, in 1975 Angela Rippon became the first woman to regularly read the national news on the BBC, preceded by two decades of male presenters. At the age of 31, Angela officially fronted the Nine O’Clock News, the Corporation’s nightly news programme. She was awarded her CBE in 2017 for services to dementia care.
