In 2003 Dr Angela Strank became the first woman Technology Vice President at BP/Castrol Lubricants, over 50 years since the inception of the position. In 2017 she was the first woman in BP to be honoured with a Damehood. Angela’s other firsts include; first woman to win the prestigious UK Energy Institute’s Cadman Award for outstanding service to the energy industry (2018); one of the first female geologists to work for the British Geological Survey; one of the first female geologists to go offshore in the UK North Sea.
