Professor Louise Richardson is the first woman to be Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford. A political scientist by training, she was previously the first woman Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of St Andrews, and also spent 20 years on the faculty of Harvard University, latterly as Executive Dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. Her book ‘What Terrorists Want’ has been recognised internationally as one of the most incisive analyses of contemporary terrorism.
